Brian fell in love with dogs as a child.
Though he was never able to personally own a pet due to family restrictions, he was always big on doing what he could to rescue as many pets as he could from going to shelters.
Behind his mother’s back, he rescued and hid many dogs at different points in his basement with the intentions on finding them good homes so they wouldn’t be killed at the shelter. This went on for many years.
In his 20’s, Brian worked for many corporate companies, never feeling connected with the work that he was doing. He knew that he wasn’t passionate about the work he was doing.
In 2010, Brian decided it was time to leave the corporate world. He partnered with other like-minded individuals, and used every dollar of his savings to open, Harlem Doggie Day Spa.
Brian devoted himself to learning all aspects of the grooming and boarding world. He earned certifications from the American Academy of Pet Grooming, a Pet CPR Certification as well as certifications from the New York State Department of Health in Animal Handling and Care Techniques.
With the support of his team and the community, Brian has created a great personal and professional relationship with many pet parent’s and their dogs. Brian believes in going above and beyond for his clients & their pets, because he believes that without them there is no Harlem Doggie Day Spa.
Natasha has had a strong passion for animals ever since she was young.
Although her mom never understood where this passion came from, as she herself wasn’t much for animals. Natasha still managed to convince her mom to take animals in. Raised with mostly cats and a quiet demeanor, Natasha would bond with animals more so over people.
In 2012, an opportunity presented itself when a friend recommended a job working with animals at a top tier Daycare, Boarding, Grooming, Training and Vet Facility in Manhattan. There, Natasha started out as a Dog Handler learning the behaviors and basics of the business. She shortly got promoted into a Lead Handler and then a Dog Bather where she learned how to groom dogs and tips and tricks on maintaining your dog’s coat. Natasha had an opportunity to continue in the grooming field and learn how to be a Full Groomer but she declined it. She realized her passion laid with working one on one with customers regarding their pet’s needs, so she was promoted to a Front Desk Supervisor. As a Supervisor, she learned how to balance staff, client needs and still found time to spend time with the animals.
In Jan 2016, Natasha walked into Harlem Doggie Day Spa inquiring about grooming for her own dog and left with a job. You’ll soon learn her knowledge is diverse in your pet’s needs – from your dog’s behavior, to their basic vet care and all the individual quirks she picks up on your pup. Natasha holds a New York Animal Handling Technique Certificate.
She has 3 fur babies – a 16 year old, blind Cairn Terrier named Nikki; a 1 year old, abandonment rescue named Kipp and a 10 year old Blue Russian cat named Suki.
Our Daycare Staff, also known as our Handlers are the staff members who spend the most time with your pup! Our morning Handlers will take your pup to their designated play group, feed breakfast to our overnight sleepers, monitor play time for your pups while giving love and attention to the not so playful pups. Our afternoon Handlers will ensure your pup gets proper nap time, monitor afternoon playtime, get your pups ready to go home, feed dinner to those sleeping over and ensure everything is set for their overnight stay.
